What's on in Edinburgh

October/November/December

There really are few more gorgeous sights at the end of the year than Edinburgh as it transforms itself into a winter wonderland. From 27 November, the city centre boasts a large ice rink, German market, snow slide and Glühwein stalls. You can also climb aboard the Edinburgh Eye for amazing views across the city. And, of course, Edinburgh’s Hogmanay is the world-renowned street party to end them all, with live music and a truly spectacular fireworks display to usher in 2009.

Mary Poppins

1 October - 6 December 2008
Following a triumphant run in London’s West End, Cameron Mackintosh’s spectacular hit musical makes its first-ever UK tour. If you don’t go home whistling “Chim Chiminee”, and “Supercalifragilistic-expialidocious”, then something has gone wrong.
